Robin Williams-by Caleb

Did you know that Robin Williams sees words upside and backwards?  Robin Williams is a well-known actor and comedian in Hollywood. He has a learning disability called dyslexia.

Dyslexia is word blindness. Someone with dyslexia cannot see words like we do. Even if they study a word over and over it is still hard to recognize the word. When they look at the word, the letters look mixed up to them. Sometimes they're even upside down and backwards!  People with dyslexia are also very curious, have a great imagination, and see pictures instead of words when they think.

You might know Robin Williams from the movies Mrs. Doubtfire, RV, Night At the Museum and Aladdin.  A real long time ago when my Mom was little, he played as Mork in Happy Days and even had his own show called Mork and Mindy. What makes him so funny is that he can copy other people's voices.  He's been on the Tonight Show many times and is one of the most famous comedians of all time.

Dyslexia can be difficult because it makes it hard to read for the person who has it.  I understand how that feels because I struggle to read because of my disorder called a Mitochondrial Cytopathy.  With my disorder, my brain knows the information, but is too tired to get it back out or to use it.   Robin Williams encourages me because even though he has dyslexia, he still does pretty much anything without worrying about his dyslexia.  He tries his hardest to accomplish what he has worked so hard on.

Caleb I like the funny pictures. Robin Williams must be a really funny actor. Lindsey said she sees pictures in her mind when she thinks.
